The state Department of Transportation is warning drivers about the start of the next phase of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Q-Bridge replacement in New Haven, which is slated to begin next Friday night, July 26.

Over that weekend, some lanes will be closed or shifted, some ramps will be restricted, shut down, or moved.

I-95 southbound traffic is being relocated from the old bridge, to the new span. Motorists should expect delays on the southbound side of the highway.

DOT Assistant District Engineer Brian Mercure says this traffic shift will be bigger than the weekend when traffic was put on the northbound side of the bridge.

“The connections are a lot harder to make coming into the interchange, versus when we were coming onto the new Q-Bridge, [northbound] it was a lot easier,” Mercure said

Officials suggest re-routing to avoid I-95 southbound in New Haven on the weekend of July 26, 27, and 28.  Read the DOT alert.
