A state contractor was injured while working near I-395 northbound in Waterford today.
State Department of Transportation spokesperson Judd Everhart says highway was shut down when a helicopter could land to pick up the injured man.
We had a contract employee who suffered some kind of injury, apparently serious because Life Star was called in,” Everhart said. “He was doing some tree work, working for a company we contract with around Connecticut for this kind of work.”
The Asplundh employee was using a chainsaw at the time. He may have suffered a neck injury.
“State Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a worker cutting trees adjacent to the highway on I-395 had been seriously injured,” said State Police Lieutenant Paul Vance. “Troopers and ambulance and fire personnel responded to the scene.”
