WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) – State officials will be closing a section of Interstate 84 in both directions in Waterbury this weekend for a utility project.
The Department of Transportation says the highway will be closed at exit 25 early Sunday morning from midnight to 5 a.m. as crews install overhead utility wires across the highway just west of the Scott Road bridge.
If it rains, the project will be moved to early Monday morning at the same time.
The DOT says traffic will be detoured off exit 25 in both directions onto local roads and back onto the highway on the exit 25 on-ramps.
The work is part of a project on I-84 in Waterbury to add a third travel lane and full-width shoulders in both directions and to improve safety.
