(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Gov. Dannel Malloy says the state will send Department of Transportation crews and equipment to help in the snow removal effort in Washington, DC and Maryland.
The crews will leave at midnight and consist of 30 DOT workers who are expected to stay between three-and-five days.
They’re being deployed under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, a state-to-state agreement that provides assistance during times of need.
Connecticut helped upstate New York in 2014 when some areas were buried under 100 inches of snow.
The DC-metro area has been digging out since it was hit hard in this past weekend’s snowstorm.
Seven-person crews are being dispatched to Gaithersburg, Maryland and Washington.
in addition, heavy duty equipment including jumbo snowblowers, plow trucks and repair gear are being sent.
