The state Department of Transportation is teaming up with Metro-North Railroad and Connecticut Light and Power in announcing a tree removal program along the Metro North New Haven commuter line in Stamford and Greenwich.
Officials say it’s an effort to cut down on tree damage which leads to service disruptions during storms.
State DOT Commissioner James Redeker says power and service disruptions are a source of aggravation for many: commuters, home and business owners and are a major expense.
The plan is to begin identifying trees and limbs that need to be removed. The actual cutting and removal will get underway in February.
