The approaching late winter snowstorm comes as officials with the state Department of Transportation crunches numbers.
The department has used just about all of its 2013 budget of around $29.5 million.
However, the federal government is reimbursing the department for 75 percent of the cost of the first 48 hours of last month’s blizzard.
When all is said and done, spokesman Kevin Nursick says they expect to break even or maybe have a little money left over.
He says the duration of a storm can literally break their bank in some instances. Nursick says as a result of last year’s mild winter, they were able to invest in some news snow removal equipment.
